Red Nerite Snail (Neritina vittina waigiensis) Care
Red Nerite Snails, Neritina vittina waigiensis, come from the Genus Nerita and can be found in both the Eastern Pacific and Western Atlantic Oceans. The shells are typically red to orange and many have stripes to swirls.
These snails are herbivores and should get most, if not all, of their dietary requirements from algae in the tank. If there is not enough algae in the tank, you may need to supplement their diet with vegetable-based foods and dried seaweed.
Nerite Snails will only grow to about 1″ in size and can be kept in tanks as small as 5 gallons. They will do best in a well-established tank with lots of live rock and sand.
They are easy to care for and totally reef safe.
NOTE: They can be very sensitive to changes in salinity so be sure to give them plenty of acclimation time.
