Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis) Care
The Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp, Lysmata amboinensis, is also known as the Skunk Shrimp and the Scarlet Shrimp. These shrimp come from the Indo-Pacific region. They have a red body with a long white stripe down the center of the back and long white antennae.
They are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as small pieces of clam, fish, and shrimp or live brine shrimp. These fish will set up cleaner stations and remove parasites and dead skin from other fish in the tank.
Skunk Cleaners can reach lengths of about 2″ and should be housed in an aquarium of at least 30 gallons.
They are reef safe.
NOTE: These shrimp are very sensitive to changes in salinity so acclimation should be done very slowly.
