Fire Shrimp (Lysmata debelius) Care
The Fire Shrimp, Lysmata debelius, is also known as the Blood Red Shrimp. These shrimp come from the Indo-Pacific region. They have a bright red body with white dots on the back.
They are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as small pieces of clam, fish, and shrimp or live brine shrimp.
They can reach lengths of about 2″ and should be housed in an aquarium of at least 30 gallons. Fire Shrimp tend to be shy and require live rock with places to hide. They should be kept singly or as a bonded pair.
They are reef safe.
NOTE: These shrimp are very sensitive to changes in salinity so acclimation should be done very slowly.
