Mini Carpet Anenome – Colored (Stichodactyla tapetum) Care
The Mini Carpet Anemone, Stichodactyla tapetum, is also known as the Maxi-Mini Carpet Anemone. These invertebrates come from the Indo-Pacific region. They are relatively small, flat, and do not have long tentacles. They come in a wide array of colors, such as red, green, and blue. They can grow to about 6″ in diameter.
Anemone’s are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as brine and mysis shrimp. You can feed your anemone small pieces of shrimp and fish – make sure that the pieces are smaller than the anemone’s oral disc.
Mini Carpet Anemones are relatively hardy and can be housed in tanks as small as 20 gallons with plenty of live rock and a good sand bed. They require moderate to high lighting and medium water flow. These anemones are photosynthetic invertebrates that use a foot to move around until they find a place with the best lighting and water flow. It is important to make sure that you have a cover on any wavemakers or pumps so they do not get caught in them.
These anemones are semi-aggressive and have a pretty vicious sting, even to humans.
Mini Carpet Anemones do not host clownfish.
