Bubble Tip Anemone – Green Snowflake (Entacmaea quadricolor) Care
The Bubble Tip Anemone, Entacmaea quadricolor, is also known as the Bulb Anemone. These invertebrates come from the Indo-Pacific region. They differ from other types of anemones in that they have a bulb tip at the ends of their tentacles. They come in a wide array of colors, such as red, green, purple, and orange. Their foot can grow to about 12″ in diameter, but most won’t grow that large in the aquarium environment.
Anemone’s are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as brine and mysis shrimp. You can feed your anemone small pieces of shrimp and fish – make sure that the pieces are smaller than the anemone’s oral disc.
Bulb Anemones are relatively hardy and can be housed in tanks as small as 30 gallons. They require moderate to high lighting and medium water flow. These anemones are photosynthetic invertebrates that use a foot to move around until they find a place with the best lighting and water flow. It is important to make sure that you have a cover on any wavemakers or pumps so they do not get caught in them.
These anemones are semi-aggressive and will sting other anemones and corals that they consider a threat.
Bubble Anemones are well known for forming symbiotic relationships with many species of clownfish.
