Yellow Flanked Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus ryukyuensis) Care
The Yellow Flanked Fairy Wrasse, Cirrhilabrus lyukyuensis, is also known as the Purple Scale Fairy Wrasse, Blueside Wrasse and the Blueheaded Fairy Wrasse. These fish come from the Eastern Indian Ocean. Females have a reddish-orange body with a white belly. Males have a greenish-blue front half and a reddish back half with a yellow patch behind the pectoral fins.
These wrasses are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as brine and mysis shrimp, high-quality frozen foods, pieces of fresh seafood, and flake and pellet foods.
Yellow Flanked Wrasses can reach up to 4″ and require an aquarium of at least 50 gallons with plenty of live rock and a fine sand bed. They will do best with one male and multiple females.
They are reef safe and will not bother corals, invertebrates and other fish.
