Lennardi Wrasse (Anampses lennardi) Care
The Lennardi Wrasse, Anampses lennardi, is also known as the Blue and Yellow Wrasse due ti it’s brilliant coloration and is a rare wrasse in the aquarium hobby. Lennardi Wrasses have unique darker coloration with vivid dark blues, reds, brown and deep blacks. They will reach a maximum size of nearly 11 inches and are strong jumpers and need a tank with tight fitted covering to prevent them from getting out. They should be kept in a tanks with plenty of swimming room, a deep dine sand bed of 4 to 6 inches, and plenty of mature rock work to eat off of.
The Lennardi Wrasse will quickly burrow into the sand if frightened, and for sleeping at night. When doing so they may often disturb bottom dwelling corals such as brain corals and Heliofungia corals. They are labeled as reef safe with caution, this is because they eat ornamental crustaceans and fanworms, and may pick on clams.
The Lennardi Wrasse are carnivores and will eat most regular fortified aquarium food such as finely chopped frozen or fresh meaty foods. You can feed them brine, mysis, squid, shrimp, clam and flake and pellet foods two to three times a day.
When buying one be sure to have some live foods available to feed them when they arrive. We recommend black worms or adult fortified brine shrimp, because they may be very difficult to get feeding in the beginning.
