Yellowchest Twist Wrasse (Anampses twistii) Care
Overview
The Yellowchest Twist Wrasse, Anampses twistii, is also known as the Twisti Wrasse, or Yellow Breasted Wrasse and will reach a maximum size of 7 inches and are strong jumpers and need a tank with tight fitted covering to prevent them from getting out. They should be kept in a tanks with plenty of swimming room, a deep dine sand bed of 4 to 6 inches, and plenty of mature rock work to eat off of.
Yellowchest Twist Wrasses will quickly burrow into the sand if frightened, and for sleeping at night. When doing so they may often disturb bottom dwelling corals such as brain corals and Heliofungia corals. They are labeled as reef safe with caution, this is because they eat ornamental crustaceans and fanworms, and may pick on clams.
Feeding
Yellowchest Twist Wrasse are carnivores and will eat most regular fortified aquarium food such as finely chopped frozen or fresh meaty foods. You can feed them brine, mysis, squid, shrimp, clam and flake and pellet foods two to three times a day.
When buying one be sure to have some live foods available to feed them when they arrive. We recommend black worms or adult fortified brine shrimp, because they may be very difficult to get feeding in the beginning.
