Humu Rectangle Triggerfish (Rhinecanthus rectangulus) Care
The Humu Rectangle Triggerfish, Rhinecanthus rectangulus, is also known as the Wedge-tail Trigger and the Rectangle Triggerfish. These fish come from the Indo-Pacific region. They have a white body with orange and blue lines and a “V” pattern in black.
Triggers are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as brine and mysis shrimp and pieces of high-quality seafood like squid, clams, shrimp, fish, and scallops. One of their favorite foods is live urchins.
Humu Rectangle Triggers can reach up to 12″ and require an aquarium of at least 180 gallons with plenty of live rock with hiding places. They are aggressive and should not be kept with very peaceful, slow-moving fish. They are best kept in a fish-only aquarium.
They are not considered reef safe.
