Epaulette Shark (Hemiscyllium ocellatum)

Overview

The Epaulette Shark, Hemiscyllium ocellatum, comes from the Northern Australia region. These smaller sharks have a yellowish to brown body with widely spaced brown spots and black eyespots on either side of its body above each pectoral fin.

These sharks are carnivores and require a diet of shrimp, crab, small fish, and worms. They will often need live feeder shrimp while being acclimated to aquarium life.

They require an aquarium of at least 250 gallons with a soft sand bed. It uses muscular pectoral fins to “walk” along the bottom of the tank.
