Dragon Pipefish (Corythoichthys intestinalis) Care
The Dragon Pipefish, Corythoichthys intestinalis, is also known as the Scribbled Pipefish. These fish come from the Indo-Pacific region. They have a long, slender body that is a tan and green mottled color with black and yellow markings. They use their tail to grab objects and anchor themselves in place.
Pipefish are carnivores and will typically only eat live copepods, which is one of the reasons they can be so difficult to care for. They are weak swimmers and will eat food as it floats through the water column.
Dragon Pipefish require an aquarium of at least 30 gallons with minimal water flow, very peaceful tankmates, and plenty of live rock and sand. Make sure your intake/overflow is covered so they do not get sucked in. They do well in tanks with seahorses.
They are reef safe and will not bother corals or other fish. They will only eat the tiniest of invertebrates.
