Blue Spotted Jawfish (Opistognathus rosenblatti) Care
The Blue Spotted Jawfish, Opistognathus rosenblatti, is also known as the Blue Dot Jawfish. These fish come from the Eastern Central Pacific region. These beautiful fish are primarily yellow with neon blue spots on the entire body. The yellow is brightest on the face and darkens as it gets closer to the tail.
These fish are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp and a variety of finely chopped seafood. They should be fed multiple times a day.
Blue Spotted Jawfish require an aquarium of 30 gallons or large with plenty of live rock and a good sandbed. They are known to jump and will leap out of tanks without a lid. These fish are semi-aggressive and will defend their territory.
They are reef safe and will not bother corals and fish, but may eat tiny invertebrates.
