Wheeler’s Shrimp Goby (Amblyeleotris wheeleri) Care
The Wheeler’s Shrimp Goby, Amblyeleotris wheeleri, is also known as the Gorgeous Prawn Goby. These fish come from the Indo-Pacific region. They have a whitish body with alternating vertical bands of dark red and tan-yellow. The body is also covered with tiny blue spots.
These gobies are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp and other types of fresh or frozen chopped seafood.
Wheeler’s Shrimp Gobies require an aquarium of 100 gallons or larger with plenty of live rock for hiding and a deep sand bed. They are known to jump and will leap out of tanks without a lid. They are peaceful fish and should not be kept with aggressive fish.
They are reef safe and will not bother corals, fish, but will eat tiny invertebrates.
