One Spot Foxface (Siganus unimaculatus) Care
The One Spot Foxface, Siganus unimaculatus, is also known as the Blotched Foxface and the Blotch Foxface. These fish come from the Western Pacific Ocean. They have a bright yellow body and a primarily white head with a wide diagonal line through the eyes and another black mark below, and then a distinctive black eyespot on the upper back part of the body.
Rabbitfish are technically omnivores, but primarily eat a diet rich foods like marine algae, Spirulina flake, and dried seaweed/kelp. They will also help keep hair algae in an aquarium in check.
The One Spot Foxface requires an aquarium of at least 125 gallons. The will do best in a tank with plenty of room for swimming and should only be kept singly or two if they are a mated pair. They typically only aggressive towards members of their own species.
They are considered reef safe “with caution” because they are known to nip at corals.
NOTE: These fish have venomous dorsal and anal fins and you must be very careful when handling them!
