Snowflake Eel (Echidna nebulosa) Care
The Snowflake Eel, Echidna nebulosa, is also known as the Clouded Moray and the Starry Moray. These fish come from throughout the Indo-Pacific and in the Southest Atlantic Ocean. They have white bodies with thick mottled black vertical stripes and yellow blotches running the length of their body.
These are some of the easiest of the moray eels to keep in a home aquarium.
Eels are carnivores and require a diet of fresh fish, clams, and crustaceans. Most will eat prepared frozen foods including brine, mysis, clams, squid, octopus, as well as live prey. They are nocturnal hunters and will eat any fish or invertebrates they can fit into their mouth.
These eels require an aquarium of at least 50 gallons with plenty of rockwork in which they can hide during the day. They must also be kept in a well-sealed tank because they are incredible escape artists and can squeeze through all but the smallest of openings.
