Ruby Red Dragonet (Synchiropus sycorax) Care
The Ruby Red Dragonet, Synchiropus sycorax, is also known as the Ruby Dragonet. These come from the Western Pacific Ocean. The body is a bright ruby-red color with small white and black blotches on the body. The fins have wavy black lines and the pelvic fins are yellow.
These fish are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp and finely chopped seafood.
The Ruby Red Dragonet can grow to be about 3″ and will do best in well-established aquariums of at least 30 gallons with plenty of live rock. They are fairly slow swimmers and should not be kept in a tank with aggressive fish.
They are reef safe and will not harm corals, but may nip at small invertebrates.
