Surge Dottyback (Pseudochromis cyanotaenia) Care
The Surge Dottyback, Pseudochromis cyanotaenia, is also known as the Bluelined Dottyback and the Bluestriped Dottyback. These captive-bred fish are originally from the Indo-Pacific region. Females have a brown body with a yellow-orange tail. Males are much brighter with a dark blue body, a yellowish head, and blue vertical stripes on the back part of the body.
Dottybacks are very territorial and will hold their ground again fish significantly larger than themselves.
These fish are carnivores and require a diet rich in both meaty foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp and finely chopped seafood.
The Surge Dottyback can grow to be about 3″ and can be housed in aquariums as small as 30 gallons with live rock and plenty of room for swimming.
They will leave coral alone, but may harass other fish and invertebrates in the tank.
