Purple Dottyback (Pictichromis porphyrea) Care
The Purple Dottyback, Pictichromis porphyrea, also known as the Magenta Dottyback. These fish come from the Western Pacific Ocean. The entire body is a vibrant pink/purple color.
Dottybacks are very territorial and will often hold their ground again fish significantly larger than themselves.
These fish are carnivores and require a diet rich in both meaty foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp and finely chopped seafood.
The Purple Dottyback can grow to be about 3″ and can be housed in aquariums as small as 30 gallons with live rock and plenty of room for swimming.
These fish are hardy, easy to care for, and will leave coral alone; however, they are known to bother small fish and invertebrates.
