Orchid Dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani) Care
The Orchid Dottyback, Pseudochromis fridmani, is also known as the also known as the Fridman’s Dottyback. These fish come from the Western Indian Ocean, specifically the Red Sea. The entire body is a bright purple color. This is the most peaceful of all of the dottybacks, making it a popular choice for the home Aquarium.
These fish are carnivores and require a diet rich in both meaty foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp and finely chopped seafood.
The Orchid Dottyback can grow to be about 3″ and can be housed in aquariums as small as 30 gallons with live rock and plenty of room for swimming.
These fish are hardy, easy to care for, and will leave coral alone; however, they are known to nip at small invertebrates.
