Scissortail Dartfish (Ptereleotris evides) Care
The Scissortail Goby, Ptereleotris evides, is also known as the Scissortail Dartfish and the Blackfin Dartfish. These fish come from the Indo-Pacific region. They have a long, slender body that is white/light blue on the face and transitions into a deep blue by the tail. They have very large large dorsal and anal fins. These fish are notorious jumpers and should be kept in a tank with a lid.
They are carnivores and require a diet rich in both meaty foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp and finely chopped seafood.
The Scissortail Dartfish can grow to be about 5″ and can be housed in aquariums as small as 30 gallons with live rock and plenty of room for swimming. They should be kept singly or as a mated pair.
These fish are hardy, easy to care for, peaceful, and reef safe.
