Helfrichi Firefish (Nemateleotris helfrichi) care
The Helfrichi Firefish, Nemateleotris helfrichi, is also known as the Helfrich’s Dartfish. These fish come from the Pacific Ocean. They have a pinkish-purple body with a yellow tail and a splash of bright purple on the forehead. These fish are notorious jumpers and should be kept in a tank with a lid.
These fish are carnivores and require a diet rich in both meaty foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp and finely chopped seafood.
The Helfrichi Firefish can grow to be about 2½″ and can be housed in aquariums as small as 20 gallons with live rock and plenty of room for swimming. They should be kept singly or as a mated pair.
These fish are hardy, easy to care for, peaceful, and reef safe.
