Maroon Clownfish (Premnas biaculeatus) Care
The Maroon Clownfish, Premnas biaculeatus, is also known as the Spinecheek Anemonefish and Maroon Anemonefish. These fish come from the Indo-West Pacific region. The body is a deep red to maroon color with three vertical stripes. These fish are captive-bred and are very hardy in aquariums.
Clownfish are omnivores and require a diet rich in both meaty and plant foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp, marine algae, and flake food. They love their food and may be aggressive when it comes to sharing with other tankmates.
The Maroon Clownfish can grow to be about 3″ and can be housed in aquariums as small as 30 gallons. These clownfish are hardy and vary from peaceful to semi-aggressive depending on the fish and the tank environment.
These fish are reef safe and will not bother coral or invertebrates.
