Lightning Maroon Clown (Premnas biaculeatus) Care
The Lightning Maroon Clownfish, Premnas biaculeatus, has very unique patterning that is different on every fish. The body is a deep maroon color with thick weblike patterns of white instead of solid white stripes.
Clownfish are omnivores and require a diet rich in both meaty and plant foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp, marine algae, and flake food. They love their food and may be aggressive when it comes to sharing with other tankmates.
The Lightning Maroon Clownfish can grow to be about 6″ and can be housed in aquariums as small as 30 gallons. Males will typically grow to be no more than 3″. These clownfish are hardy and semi-aggressive depending on the fish and the tank environment.
These fish are reef safe and will not bother coral or invertebrates.
NOTE: Maroon Clownfish have cheek spines that can get tangled in nets; if you need to catch one, please use a container vs. a net.
