Blue Reef Chromis (Chromis cyaneus) Care
The Blue Reef Chromis, Chromis cyaneus, is also known as the Blue Chromis and the Reef Chromis. These fish come from the Western Atlantic, from Bermuda to the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. They are a pretty bright blue body with dark blue/black edging along the top of the body in fins.
Chromis are omnivores and require a diet rich in meaty and plant foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp, marine algae, and flake food.
The Blue Reef Chromis will grow to about 5″ and can be housed in aquariums as small as 30 gallons. Most of the fish in the Chromis species are hardy, peaceful, and best kept in groups of at least five to seven. They need plenty of swimming room and are very active.
These fish are reef safe and will not bother coral or invertebrates.
