Black Bar Chromis (Chromis retrofasciata) Care | ||||||||||||
|
The Black Bar Chromis, Chromis retrofasciata, comes from the Western Pacific. The body is mostly yellow with a black vertical bad right before the tail starts. The face has a black mask above the eyes.
Chromis are omnivores and require a diet rich in meaty and plant foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp, marine algae, and flake food.
The Black Bar Chromis will only grow to about 3″ and can be housed in aquariums as small as 50 gallons. Most of the fish in the Chromis species are hardy, peaceful, and best kept in groups of at least five to seven. They need plenty of swimming room and are very active.
These fish are reef safe and will not bother coral or invertebrates.
