Midas Blenny (Ecsenius midas) Care
The Midas Blenny, Ecsenius midas, is also known as the Persian Blenny. These fish come from the Indo-Pacific region. They have a golden yellow body with blue under the mouth and blue eyes. They are known to change colors when stressed or defending their territory.
This species of blenny are omnivores and require a diet containing both meaty foods and plant-based foods, such mysis and brine shrimp and marine algae. They should be fed a couple of times a day.
These fish require an aquarium of at least 30 gallons that has plenty of live rock with hiding places. Blennies love to hide in rocks with only their head out so they can survey their surroundings. They should be housed with other peaceful tankmates. They can be territorial when confined to a small tank with too many tankmates.
Midas Blennies are reef safe, peaceful, and have great personalities.
