Lawnmower Blenny (Salarias fasciatus) care
The Lawnmower Blenny, Salarias fasciatus, is also known as the Jeweled Blenny and the Sailfin Algae Blenny. These fish come from the Indo-Pacific region. They have a mottled light brown body, blunt head, and big eyes.
These blennies are herbivores and require a diet rich in plant matter. In addition to controlling algae growth in the tank, they will eat frozen and dried forms are marine algae. They should be fed as often as necessary to keep them healthy. It is important to ensure that other, more aggressive fish are not preventing your blenny from getting food.
These fish require an aquarium of at least 30 gallons that has plenty of live rock with hiding places. Blennies love to hide in rocks with only their head out so they can survey their surroundings. They should be housed with other peaceful tankmates.
Lawnmower blennies are reef safe, peaceful, and have a great personality.
