Xanthotis Angel (Apolemichthys xanthotis)

Overview

The Xanthotis Angel, Apolemichthys xanthotis, is also known as the Yellow-ear Angelfish and Red Sea Angelfish. These fish come from the Western Indian Ocean. They have a white body, black face, yellowtail, and its dorsal and anal fins are black and edged in white.

Xanthotis Angelfish are omnivores that require a diet of marine algae, angelfish food, and a variety of small meaty foods.

They do best in an aquarium that is at least 75 gallons or more and has plenty of live rock to graze on and hide in.

They are considered reef safe with caution because they have been known to nip at clam mantles and corals.
