Blue Velvet Pygmy Angel (Centropyge deborae) Care
The Blue Velvet Pygmy Angel, Centropyge deborae, is also known as the Blue Velvet Angelfish. These fish come from the South Pacific Ocean, including the Fiji Islands. They have a dark blue body that may look black or a vivid blue, depending on the lighting.
Blue Velvet Pygmy Angelfish are omnivores that require a diet of marine algae, angelfish food, and a variety of small meaty foods. They do best in an aquarium that is at least 30 gallons or more. Like most dwarf angelfish, you should only have one species in smaller tanks because of aggression issues.
They are considered reef safe with caution because they have been known to nip at clam mantles and corals.
